How do I create an account on 2famo.us?

Registering is free and it should take you about 2 minutes. You start by going here. You will need to fill out some details about yourself as follows: your email address (make sure you enter a valid email address because the registration process requires you to activate your account by clicking on a link that will be emailed to you immediatly after you submit the form), the time zone of the place where you're living (click here to find out why) and choose a password for your account. Once you submit the form, an email will be sent to your email address with a link that needs to be clicked in order for your account to become active.

What's with the time zone?

Once you set the correct time zone for your account you will see all the date/time related information translated in your local time. This is important so that you know exactly when you are booking your websites on the home page of 2famo.us.

How do I register a website?

First, you must have an account with you must have an account with 2famo.us (click here to find out how to create an account). Once you have registered on 2famou.us click on My Famous Websites link at the top-right edge of the website and then click on the Register a website link. You will need to fill out some details of your website as follows: website name, URL, website logo (an 86x52 pixels JPEG, GIF or PNG image, having no more than 100KB) and a description of up to 600 characters.

How many websites may I register?

You can register an unlimited number of websites. Note that once a website like www.mydomain.com is registered we will not allow you to register something like www.mydomain.com/somepage as a different website. We will, however, allow you to register subdomains like subdomain.mydomain.com

How do I book a website?

First, you must have an account with 2famo.us (click here to find out how to create an account) and second, you must have a website registered (click here to find out how to register a website). Once you have registered at least one website, click on My Famous Websites link at the top-right edge of the website and then click on the Book link for the website you would like to book. The following step is to pick a slot where to book your website. A list of slots will be shown (in the form of from date/hour - to date/hour) and the occupancy of each respective slot (in the form of number of positions already occupied/number of pages already occupied - click here for a more detailed explanation on occupancy). Select a slot and click on any of the Book! buttons. Once you confirm your booking, your website will be be booked to the selected slot on the next available position/page. You can book a website only once per slot

What are the best slots to book my websites on?

You should book your websites to slots that are not over-booked, because the better position you have (and implicitly you are closer to the first page), the higher the chances people will see and visit your website. Also, whenever possible, you should book your websites to slots that usually get the most visits. At the top of the booking page, in the Statistics section, click on Average profile views per weekdays and Average visits per weekdays links to expand the graphs containing statistics about best days to book your websites on.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, you can. You can cancel a booking but only if there's more than one hour left until the respective slot is about to begin. Once there is less than one hour until the slot is about to begin no more actions can be taken on the respective slot. You can cancel your bookings from the booking page (click here to read how to book a website). Once on the booking page, you will notice that for the slots you have already booked your website on, you will no longer be able to select the respective slots for booking, instead there will be a cancel link allowing you to delete the booking of your current website for the respective slot. There's also another way of canceling bookings. Click on My Famous Websites link at the top-right edge of the website and then click on the Stats link for the website you would like to delete a booking. Once on the Website stats page scroll down to Booking history and on the Status column click on the x link to delete the desired booking. Note that this link will be available only if there's more than one hour left until the respective slot is about to begin. Once there is less than one hour until the slot is about to begin no more actions can be taken on the respective slot.

What are those numbers on the occupancy graphs?

These graphs show how many websites and up to which page are already booked for each slot. Currently, we showcase 15 websites/page on the home page of 2famo.us. Therefore, a bar of the graph having the numbers 5/1 indicates that there are 5 websites already booked to that particular slot and that only the first page is occupied. A bar having the numbers 32/3 indicates that there are 32 websites already booked to that particular slot and that these websites already occupy the first three pages. Also, when you see these numbers underlined it means that you have one or more websites booked on those respecitve slots. Move your mouse cursor over these numbers to see a tooltip showing you which websites you have booked and to what position/page

How many times can I book each of my websites?

You can book each of your registered websites up to 10 times in advance. Once you book one of your websites for the maximum allowed times, you will no longer be able to book that specific website until after one of the slots where your website is booked expires. Once a slot is showcased on the home page of 2famo.us (it expires), you will be able to book your website again.

The top 10 websites having the highest rankings will be shown there by default, benefitting from additional exposure on 2famo.us.

How are the scores for the websites computed?

The scores are computed based primarly on the number of times a website is booked and on the average position on which the website is booked. To a much lower degree, the score is also influenced by the fraction of visits per profile views and the rating of the websites. Therefore, in order to have a higher score it is mainly important that you continuously book your website. Also, the better the position the highest the score. The scores and rankings are computed again every time the counter on 2famo.us runs out. The top 10 websites having the highest rankings will be shown on the right side bar, benefitting from additional exposure on 2famo.us.
